Well established in freshwater habitats (Ref. 5198). Occurs throughout Madang Province (Ref. 26752). Known from the Laloki River system (Ref. 47015). Abundant in the lower Ramu and middle and lower Sepik rivers. Has become the most important food fish in the Sepik region. Also Ref. 2, 1739, 50786.
